Looking at my food holiday list, I see that today is National Apple Strudel Day. So in following the "apple" theme, I want to share an unbelievably delicious recipe with you!
When planning my Memorial Day menu, I wanted to create something out-of-the-box to serve the adults for dessert.
The result was a savory twist on the classic caramel apple -- a smoked bourbon caramel apple Bacon bomb!
It all begin by wrapping peeled apples with Bacon, then smoking them until the apple is soft and tender and the Bacon is perfectly crisp. Once smoked, the Bacon wrapped apples are dipped in a homemade bourbon-infused caramel before being served to the waiting guests. Making it for a party with kids, just skip the Bourbon!!
