At the Allentown fair the Junior Baking-Cookies, Brownies and Bars contest was new this year. As soon as I had a bite of Marina’s Delicious Bacon Brownies, I knew which entry would get the blue ribbon. The 165th fair wrapped up on Labor Day after a full slate of culinary contests and demonstrations.
The baker of these amazing brownies was Marina Martin-Foncesca, 8, of Allentown. Like the majority of the bakers and cooks I meet at the fair, Marina acquired her skills through spending time in the kitchen with family, in this case her grandmother, Barbie Krapf of Upper Macungie, and her mom, Amy Martin.
